Art San Diego 2012 Contemporary Art Fair
Joel Rea will be exhibiting new works with Lethbridge Gallery at the San Diego Contemporary Art Fair, held in San Diego, California, USA.

2012 Moran Portrait Prize Semi-Finalist
Joel Rea has been short listed as a semi-finalist in the 2012 Moran Portrait Prize. The finalists will be announced July 2nd 2012.
The Doug Moran National Portrait Prize is an annual Australian portrait prize founded by Doug Moran in 1988, It is the richest portrait prize in the world with A$150,000 awarded to the winner.

'Inner-View' - The Joel Rea Video Portrait
'Inner-View', is a video portrait of painter Joel Rea, depicting his fine art practice and discovering personal insights into the artist's life.
The film was commissioned by the Regional Arts Development Fund, a Queensland Government and Gold Coast City Council partnership to support local arts and culture.

Melbourne Exhibition Federation Square
In November paintings by Joel Rea will be on exhibition at the No-Vacancy Project Space, The Atrium, in Federation Square, Melbourne. The group exhibition is on show during Melbourne Cup week, from Tues 1st Nov and runs until Sun 6th Nov.
The official launch of this Lethbridge Gallery group exhibition is on Friday the 4th of November.
Charity Art Exhibition to Raise Funds
Community Hart Organisation has created events in October to help raise funds for Amigos of Dave, a foundation set up for Dave Montoya who was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2008. Joel Rea will donate the entire proceeds of the sale of a portrait of his 21-week pregnant wife.

Joel Rea has won the Young Gold Coast Achievers in Vocational Excellence Award. A resident of the Gold Coast since 1985, Joel was short-listed for the award along with seven other finalists due to his success within his Fine Art practice.
The Young Achievers Award night was held on Tuesday 10th. May 2011.
